218 Claude skills for product managers, and how to actually use them

Worried you are falling behind on AI as a PM? You are not. Most of "keeping up" is noise, and you do not need to chase every release to stay sharp at your job.

What you do need is a small set of tools that quietly save you time on the work you already repeat every week. So I went looking. I pulled together 218 product management skills you can run inside Claude, wrote a plain-English description for each one, added the link, and put the whole thing in a single sheet you can skim in a few minutes.

One honest note before we start: this is a catalogue, not a leaderboard. I am not claiming these are the 218 greatest skills ever made. Some are excellent. Some are niche. A few are directory listings or near-duplicates of each other. The job here is to hand you the map, not to pretend I have ranked the entire field. You will get more out of this if you treat it as a menu to sample from than as a top-218 chart to work through in order.

What is actually going on with Claude's skills right now

If you have not looked closely, here is the short version. A skill is a saved set of instructions that Claude loads when it is relevant, instead of you re-explaining the same task every single session. Think of it less like a chatbot prompt and more like an onboarding doc for a capable new hire. You write down how you want a thing done once, and from then on, Claude follows it.

Over the last year, this went from a developer curiosity to a mainstream feature. Skills now work across the Claude app, the terminal tool Claude Code, and the API, and the same skill file moves between them. Community libraries have exploded alongside that. There are now well over a hundred thousand skills catalogued across public registries, and product management has become one of the busiest corners. Individual creators, PM influencers, and small teams are all publishing packs, most of them free.

That abundance is the good news and the problem at the same time. There is a skill for almost any PM task you can name. There is also a lot of noise, a lot of overlap, and very little quality control. That is exactly why I built the list: to cut the search time down to something you can do over a coffee.

Why this matters for your day-to-day

Here is the honest case for bothering. Most of a PM's week is not glamorous strategy work. It is the recurring grind: drafting the same kind of PRD, turning a pile of interview notes into themes, writing the weekly status update for three different audiences, and defending the same prioritization call. None of that requires genius. All of it takes hours.

Skills attack precisely that layer. Instead of writing a long prompt from scratch each time, you describe the task in plain language, and Claude applies the playbook you have already set up. The payoff is not one dramatic moment. It is a steady reduction in friction that compounds over every week you keep using it. You also get consistency, which matters more than people admit. A PRD skill that encodes your team's format produces the same shape of document every time, so reviewers stop relearning your layout and start reading the substance.

What skills will not do is think for you. They do not replace product judgment, taste, or the hard conversations. They clear the busywork so you have more room for the parts that actually need a human. If you go in expecting a co-pilot for the tedious 60 percent rather than a replacement for the important 40 percent, you will be happy.

The part nobody tells you: this takes experimentation

I want to be straight with you, because the breathless "10 skills that will 10x your output" posts will not be. Not every skill on this list will work for you. A skill that is gold for one PM can be useless for another, and the difference usually comes down to context: your company's size, your tooling, your data access, your approval processes, and how your team actually likes to work.

A status-update skill built around a startup's casual Slack culture will feel wrong in a regulated enterprise. A prioritization skill that assumes you have clean usage data is frustrating if you do not. None of these are flaws in the skill. They are just mismatches, and the only way to find out is to try.

So treat this as a sampling exercise, not an installation marathon. Pick one skill for the task you repeat most this month. Run it on real work, not a clean test case. If it earns its place, keep it. If it fights you or fires when you do not want it, drop it without guilt. Resist the urge to enable thirty skills at once, because an overbroad setup will trigger the wrong skill at the wrong time, and you will end up trusting none of them. One reliable skill beats ten that sort of work.

How to install and use a Claude skill, explained for people who would rather not touch anything technical

The whole thing happens inside Claude. No coding, no terminal, nothing installed on your computer. If you can upload a file, you can do this.

Step 1: Turn the feature on (one time)

  • Open Claude, go to Settings, then Capabilities

  • Switch on "Code execution and file creation." Skills needed to run.

Step 2: Use a skill that is already there

  • Go to Customize, then Skills

  • Find one you want and flip the toggle on

  • Done. It is ready.

Step 3: Add one of the free skills I shared (these come as a file)

  • Download the skill folder from the link

  • Put that folder into a ZIP. Right-click it, then "Compress" or "Send to ZIP." The folder itself goes inside the ZIP, not just the loose files.

  • Back in Customize > Skills, click the "+" and upload your ZIP

  • It shows up in your list, ready to toggle on

Step 4: Actually use it

  • Just describe your task like you normally would. Claude notices when a skill fits and uses it.

  • Or type "/" in the message box and pick the skill from the list.

One rule for peace of mind: only add skills from people you actually trust, the same way you would not run a random file a stranger emailed you.

If it still feels like a lot, do this. Enable one skill, ask Claude to do the thing, and watch it work once. That is the entire learning curve. You do not need to speak tech. You click a few toggles and talk to Claude like a colleague.

Where to start: five free skills I would use every week

If 218 feels like a lot, ignore most of it for now. These are the five I would reach for first. They cover the work nearly every PM repeats, and none of them requires a budget conversation to try.
